Why did you join the Take Charge Cats?
I attended the Arizona Financial Face-off as a volunteer and I saw exactly how great the program was and how it was benefit many people around Tucson. I wanted to also be a part of this initiative and applied to the program the following fall.

Has your experience as a Take Charge Cat met your expectations?
Yes, I love everything I do as a Take Charge Cat. I love seeing that we actually are making an impact and the students we reach are extremely grateful to be learning what we teach.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Take Charge Cat?
I enjoy being able to experience other parts of Tucson and impact many different students. We visit schools in many different demographics and it’s amazing to see that each and everyone of them is learning something from our program.

How does your TCC ambassador position work with your school schedule and other commitments?
It is a very flexible position and Torey and Caitlyn really understand that we are all students as well. They allow us to work when we can and will make adjustments to best fit us all.

Andrea
Accounting and French Language & Literature Double Major, Senior
Fourth Year, President, Arizona Financial Face-Off & Consumer Jungle Committee Member

Why did you join the Take Charge Cats?
I met the TCC team at the job fair in the Student Union my freshman year of college. More than a job, I was interested in learning about personal finance. I even said in my interview that I am so happy that this program exists, because I wish I had something like this in my high school. I know all the knowledge that I have aquired will help me so much in my life, and so I am so happy that I get to do the same for other students even younger than me. I truly believe in our mission!

Has your experience as a Take Charge Cat met your expectations?
Yes! I have grown so much as a person within my time as Take Charge Cats and I have been able to meet so many amazing people. The other Take Charge Cats, all my bosses, and I even got to meet UA Basketball Coach Sean Miller! More than that, I have been able to improve my presentation skills and my knowledge on personal finance –and those I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

What have you enjoyed most about being a Take Charge Cat?
I think I’ve enjoyed the people the most. I am a people-person, but I also believe that the kind of students that we bring into the program are exceptional in all areas of their life, so it has been very enjoyable to be with very like-minded people. I also see how much we have all grown, from wedding to babies to graduations, we are a really close group so we carry our friendships beyond the job.

How does your TCC ambassador position work with your school schedule and other commitments?
No one can ask for a more flexible job. I think with TCC, you really get out of it what you put into it. I invested so much time in the beginning of my journey with TCC, so I was able to gain more experience than any other first year, and have continued that in later years. But as I have gotten closer to my senior year and closer to graduation, I still believe that I have been able to step back and allow the younger Cats to gain their experience. As I have gained more experience in the team, I believe my role shifted to more of a mentorship role, which has been very rewarding. Overall, no one can ask for a more flexible job, so it has been manageable to juggle all the other things in my life.
